Role Responsibilities

New Business Development – International and Domestic 

  • Ensure that new business sold (a customer who starts trading) is in line with the new business strategy
  • Responsible for achieving their key performance indicators
  • Ensure all relevant information is inputted in a timely and consistent manner, as required by CRM system where applicable
  • Implement and follow up agreed actions following a business review meeting
  • Develop awareness of own performance/activity to enable comparison of actual performance against growth strategy and agreed activities. Ensure the strategic management of customer relationships to drive the highest levels of service to both protect and identify new opportunities. This includes the customers suppliers, peer groups and affiliations/associated companies
  • Monitor how is the customer performing against profile building an understanding of their business including fluctuations and increase in service demands, their levels of satisfaction which includes their risk to the business. Communicate to sales leadership and agree appropriate actions
  • Promote GFS brand values and image through behaviours which include external and internal interactions, self-management and working in a collaborative way with others
  • As a senior new business developer contribute and support the formulation and implementation of agreed sales targets/budgets in line with agreed Sales/Company Policies. These targets to be proven to be deliverable by the current and/or planned resource
  • Ensure sufficient quality information and statistics (timely, accurate and informative) are available for use by the sales leadership
  • Understand a customer’s technology and despatch infrastructure to ensure the most appropriate GFS solution is tailored to their needs. Ensure that you remain competent with internal technologies and applications
  • Understand, and implement company policy as directed by sales leadership. Ensure the Selling Proposition(s) is communicated to actual and potential customers
  • Continually develop knowledge of GFS, product innovations, sales and relationship management skills
  • Contribute market intelligence and sales information and interpretation to the development of overall commercial strategy

  • Specialist related industry knowledge and experience – particularly of selling into carrier-related markets
  • Use and application of relevant IT – Microsoft Office
  • Communication skills. Capable ‘stand up’ presenter, articulate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Sound business awareness. Always aware of business priorities and driven by the need to produce results
  • Positive, enthusiastic, demonstrably high levels of energy
  • High levels of self-awareness and knows own strengths and is using them to best effect. Knows own weaknesses and works with them
  • Can work effectively as part of a team
  • Self-motivation and a well-founded self-belief, confidence and credibility
  • Open minded and the ability and willingness to learn
  • Solid commercial awareness – carrier and customer as well as more general national and international factors
