The GFS Operations department requires a self-driven candidate who can use their own initiative to provide support for the department. The successful candidate must be reliable, a good communicator, work harmoniously within a small close-knit team, and have the ability to work with external suppliers and colleagues to ensure operational excellence.

Primary areas of responsibility

  • To pro-actively manage the GFS single collection service and log all issues
  • Track third party suppliers to ensure collections are on schedule
  • Take corrective action where variances to schedule are identified and record any costs incurred
  • Inform customers of any variation to their scheduled collection advising of impact, if any, on the service offering
  • Set up additional ad-hoc and scheduled collections with 3rd party suppliers and carriers
  • Provide ‘out of hours’ weekend operational cover
  • Pro-actively manage weekend collections ensuring they are on schedule and advise customers and depots
  • Prepare data and reports on 3rd party suppliers performance recording issues, impacts, corrective action and costs
  • Assist in the implementation of all new GFS customers
  • To coordinate the administration of the GFS van fleet in liaison with GFS depots
  • To promote the GFS brand image and values through own appearance and behaviour so that it reflects GFS high standards and develops customer relationships
  • Develop good working relations with customers and suppliers by telephone, emails and face-to-face throughout the UK
  • To fully understand the warehouse functions
  • To assist, when necessary, with low level warehouse activities
  • All other reasonable requirements as specified by senior management

Education and Experience


  • Experience of working in a customer facing role; Ability to influence suppliers to effect best in class
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to work on their own; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
