We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Accountant to cover maternity leave. Applicants should:

Hours: Full time – Maternity cover


Self-driven, with a high level of attention to detail, results orientated with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality work. Reliable, good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential attributes.

Main areas of responsibility

  • Assist in preparation of accounts up to trial balance
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Assisting with preparation of Profit and Loss, Balance Sheets and Cash Flows
  • Calculation of accruals and prepayments
  • Transaction and journal processing
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Purchase and Sales Ledger
  • Preparation of payment runs
  • Assisting with audit preparation

Qualifications and skills

  • Minimum AAT qualified or qualified by experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in a busy accounts/finance department
  • Use of accounting systems – Sage 50/200 experience beneficial
  • IT literate with strong Excel skills
