Global Freight Solutions operates in a high transaction environment, with a mix of large corporate customers paying by BACS, and multiple smaller customers in commercial agreements with short payment terms generally paying by direct debit.    Timely and robust management of the sales ledger is therefore essential to ensure that cash is collected on time, and promptly and accurately allocated to the ledger.  Customer relationships are maintained by resolving invoicing queries, and business exposure is minimised by initiating stopping service when payment is outside of contractual terms and ensuring that invoice credits and are not issued without ensuring that the associated funds have also been recovered from carriers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Reporting to Accounts Supervisor
  • Daily maintenance of the sales ledger, including accurate allocation of cash, and focus on collection of older balances.
  • Preparation of daily and weekly direct debit collections. Including importing to bank and allocation of receipts.
  • Distribution of customer statements resolving payment disputes.
  • Logging and resolution of customer invoice ‘queries’, and ‘Claims’ credits. Liaising with suppliers and account managers to ensure associated credits are sourced from carriers, within policy guidelines and timeframes.
  • Production of weekly Aged Debtors report with commentary.
  • Engage management promptly when problems are encountered.
  • Managing internal and external relationships.
  • Other duties as required.

Key skills:

  • Previous experience of using ‘NetSuite’ financial software an advantage.
  • 2 years + experience of working in a high transaction sales ledger environment.
  • A keen eye for detail is essential alongside a talent for problem solving and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable to show assertiveness where necessary to obtain a positive result.
  • Good Excel skills.
  • Ability to multi task to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstratable experience of commercial analysis and thinking.
